SE Falcons VS Stars
April 30, 2005

Boca Raton, 30 April - Even though the Falcons beat the Hurricanes 16-0 last week, this Saturday marks the first official win for the 2005 South East Falcons and they made it count.

Drawing first blood this evening was an amazing 35 yd touchdown reception by running back Jerry Kelly. Derrick Vickers made it count by completing 84.6 percent of his passes (22-26) for a total of 5 touchdowns, a SE Falcons record.

Two of the Touchdowns were caught by star receiver Derrick Gillis Jr.Contributing to the score was offensive player of the game Willie Burgess with a 30 yd touchdown pass and 12 yd touchdown run. The offense wasn't the only side of the ball making things happen. Inside Linebacker Michael Pitts made an astonishing pick, grabbing the only interception of the night for the Falcons. While the Stars were marching down the field trying to get back in the game, Linebacker Chauncey Marshall recovered a key fumble dashing any hope of a comeback. Defensive hit of the game went to former Miami Hurricane Safety, Jonathan Mann. Mann also contributed to the score by plowing 2 defensive players down for a 2 point conversion on the first scoring drive.

This evening the SE Falcons showed the Diamond football League that they are serious and ready to win the division title. “The Falcons are a good team. They promised to deliver a competitive team in this Florida division and they have done just that. I like what I see” DFL Commissioner on hand for the game.

This week is a bye week for the SE Falcons, and the next game is May 15 th at 7:00 P.M. against the division leaders, the Bulldogs. If the SE Falcons can play the Bulldogs like they played the Stars, the Florida Division is going to have a new leader.

Team owners Derrick Gillis Jr, Jonathan Mann and Michael Potts have been working continuously to give South Florida a Semi-Pro football team, and their hard work seems to be paying off with the SE Falcons.
